The Important Ways for Counting Cards
Has the idea of counting cards ever appealed to you? Perhaps you truly want to learn but you think you’re not smart enough. Guess what, you can learn anything you want, and counting cards is no different. This article will teach you the basics, and when you are ready to learn more, there are better resource out there that will move you beyond this.
The system that many people will tend to use is the high-low system. It’s pretty easy to understand, though you should know that this does not involve knowing the number of cards. It is just the ratio of high cards to low cards in the deck that you are playing with. Okay, so maybe that doesn’t make much sense yet, but it will.
Assigning Values
Essentially, each and every card has it’s own point value. Low cards are 2,3,4,5, and 6. Such cards will be assigned a plus one value, while the high cards, 10, jack, queen, king, and ace will have a minus value. Neutral cards will be 7, 9, and 9.
In order to begin, try memorizing each value of each card. Go over the deck and recite the values until you’re absolutely sure you have them memorized.
Keep the Running Count
Once you are feeling that you have the card values memorized you can start working with keeping a running count. This is more practice to get you ready for the actual game.
To start out, the running count should be zero, but should be increased as cards are flipped over. The count will then depend on which cards are flipped over.
It’s not going to be easy, and in fact you will need to do some practicing. You will need to memorize every single value, and you will need to perfect your method of keeping a running count. Be able to do it without hesitating.
True Count
Once you are ready to play an actual game and count the cards during the game you will go from a running count to the true count. To do this you keep the running count and divide it by the number of cards remaining in the deck. The true count will tell you what to bet.
When the true count is positive, then you will bet more. In contrast, if it is negative then you won’t want to bet quite as much. Remember to only bet when you have an actual chance of winning. In doing this you will win much more than you lose. This is a great way to raise your overall odds and help you to make more money.
